Not only are we considered “friends” of God, but we are called His children. He lovingly adopted us into His family through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. He has bestowed on us His great love and the privilege of being called His children.
If you or anyone you’re close to has ever adopted a child, you know the depth of love that is required to do such a thing. As a mother with four biological children and one adopted child, I speak from experience. Adoption is special mostly because you have a more obvious choice as to whether to take this child in or not.
God made a conscious choice to rescue us from our orphanage of sin and adopt us as His own. He chose to love us and shower us with His grace, mercy, and kindness. He didn’t HAVE to do that. He CHOSE to do that. How great a love is that?!
